First of all, if you've made it here then, I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to visit my humble little website.
Hi, I'm Paul,
Well, how did I get here?! Sounds like a Talking Heads song...

I've always been artistically minded and have learned many different trades over the course of my life. When I was taught photography my teacher pulled me aside and said,"Paul, what you have I cannot teach. You have an eye for beauty." I have worked with wood almost my entire life creating carved animal figures , (large fish, bears, etc.) I also have made furniture, tables, chairs and more for myself and others. Fly fishing and fly tying are hobbies that taught me to be very meticulous and patient.

After building a little wood shop I began to make tobacco pipes. I've relocated several times and have developed an ideal shop with wood and metal lathes and top quality tools with 3 dust collection systems. I'm not interested in being a copy cat so each pipe is made one at time to make something extra special and unique to be admired and used for years to come!

And now for the past 10 years I've been honing my craft and making  high end tobacco pipes for my customers. I use the finest materials available and every pipe is made with extreme dedication and over 10 years experience. As an artist I choose several finish techniques that display the natural grain in the wonderful Mediterranean briar and Croatian morta wood.

(I'm the only American pipe maker to use this highest quality morta wood that I obtain from a dear friend/mentor living in Croatia with over 50 years experience with this particular wood is dated from 5-8,000 years old)  He has taught me valuable information to prevent mishaps, develop finishing and the correct techniques that apply specifically to this material .

The finishes I use take more time and often include combined techniques I've developed over the years. The stems are precisely  hand cut from beautiful Italian acrylic, high quality German ebonite with color choices used to enhance and compliment the wood. I use methods in my stem making that provide comfort with precise control, engineering and integrity. Every single pipe passes a pipe cleaner!

For each pipe I then make a soft thick leather bag. I hand select the leather locally, hand punch the holes and double stitch with waxed line. A paracord tie is used to secure it. The leather bags are really terrific and another way to protect your pipes for safe keeping.

My customers/friends that have purchased my pipes repeatedly commend me on the pipes I have hand crafted and often come back for more. I attribute much of my expertise to my master pipe making mentors who've shared incredibly valued information over the years and I also teach pipe making to a few select individuals.

In my spare time I am either fly fishing, hiking, camping or photographing with my beautiful wife and our feisty sweet German Shepherd, Roxy and new silver labrador, Annie!

Here in Central, Oregon (Bend) I started a pipe club, If you are in the area please email me and we can meet up for a pipe smoke!
